Behind the scenes with the Chooks

Want to get to know the chooks. Well we are going to tell you all about them.

We have 16 chickens on the farm.

They are all free range. We have two coops for them to sleep in at night. They are let out in the morning and shut in at night. To keep them protected from Mr fox.

Twice a week they are moved onto a different patch of grass. They love moving day. They chase after all the new flies and bugs. The bedding is changed with fresh clean dry straw and their water is changed and topped up.

We collect the eggs each lunchtime, since the sun has been setting later we are getting a few more eggs. You may have noticed the different colours. We have a variety of breeds. We get green, blue and brown eggs. I love seeing all the different colours I think the egg boxes look really pretty.

Once the calves are outside, they will follow behind them. They have already made such difference to the grass and you can see where they have previously been in the field.

We are hoping this summer we can build a bigger coop for them and then be able to add to our flock.
